You won't believe what happened this morning? After sleeping in tell around 6:30am, (yah 6:30) I bundled up, called Jessie, harnessed Juanita and readied to go for our morning walk. Jessie is a dog who comes when he is called so he starts, off lead. Juanita on the other hand works best on a leash. Anyway, I opened the vestibule door and stepped right into a herd of Oregon Elk. Well Jessie got the "jump"on the herd and me then before I new what was happening the ten or so elk, my two Chihuahuas and I were all leaping into different directions. Funny thing is,a small squirrel that lives in the corner of the house , was out for the first time this year and he was watching the hole thing.
Now I don't know if you know this or not, but wild animals won't run from you so long as you don't appear to be a threat. So I put the dogs away and went back outside. To my amazement the elk didn't run very far. As a mater of fact they went right back to grazing just feet away. Ok maybe yards not feet but they didn't run far. I had enough time to go back into the house and get my field glasses, which were nice. My next observation was soon after . I was on Minnow Cr Rd and they were off to my left just standing there munching the flora.
So I suppose that means that I was watching the fauna eating the flora in the front yarda.
